News from the South Parkland Parish – May 2008
St. Paul’s, Dauphin

News

The Alberta Clipper snowstorm which hit southern Manitoba the weekend
after Easter snowed out plans for a gathering of the five
congregations of the South Parkland Parish at St. Paul's, Dauphin.
With Bishop Jim Njegovan snowbound in Brandon, which led the country
in snow accumulation that Saturday, the South Parkland service which
he was to have celebrated and preached at was cancelled. Instead 26
people gathered at St. Paul's on the second Sunday of Easter
including the local United Church minister, whose congregation
cancelled services that day. It was followed by a smaller version of
the planned potluck. The next time the parishes of St. Matthew's,
Gilbert Plains, Christ Church Grandview, St. Michael and All Angels,
MCreary and St. Bede's, Kinosota, will gather is May 4 for the
confirmation of a dozen candidates from St. Paul's, and one from St.
Bede's by Bishop Jim on Sunday May 4. We have confidence that there
will be better weather for that important event in Dauphin.

Holy Week at St. Paul's, Dauphin included services on Maundy Thursday
including stripping of the altar, the Eucharist and foot-washing, the
Good Friday liturgy, the Easter Vigil, including the new fire,
lessons, renewal of Baptismal Vows, and the Eucharist, and on Easter
Day.
